Who We Are

We are a team of people who have walked the same path. We are not just advisors, consultants, or supporters; we are individuals who have experienced the same challenges, changes, and life journeys that you are going through right now.

Whether it’s navigating health challenges, building a career, balancing life and work, discovering your identity, or overcoming hardship, we have been there. We understand what it feels like to feel lost, stuck, or misunderstood. And we know what it takes to find your way forward.

Lived experience is not just part of what we do; it is our foundation,

our unique strength, and the reason we exist.

Our Mission

"To provide understanding, support, and guidance rooted in real life. Because we have faced these challenges ourselves, we meet people not just with expertise, but with genuine empathy, practical insight, and the certainty that you are not alone."

We believe the best help comes from someone who truly understands. That is why every piece of advice, each resource, and every story we share comes from personal experience. We don’t just tell you what to do; we show you what worked for us, what didn’t, and how you can find what works for you.

Our Vision

"A world where everyone feels seen, heard, and understood; support built on shared experience; and where no one has to face life’s challenges without someone who truly knows what it’s like."

We dream of a future where "lived experience" is the standard for quality support. Where difference is seen as strength, where struggles are met with kindness, and where everyone has access to guidance that comes from the heart as well as the mind.

What Guides Us — Our Core Values

Everything we do is founded on these five principles:

2nd Chances Zone is a welcoming place characterized by shared experiences and unconditional acceptance. Here, you are not a "case" or a "problem to be solved." You are an equal. We do not stand apart from those we support—we stand alongside them.

What most clearly defines us is that every founding member has lived experience. We share similar backgrounds, histories, and life journeys with the people who come to us for help. We have faced the exact same barriers, stigma, and mistakes. We know firsthand the struggles of the justice system, homelessness, addiction, and social exclusion.

● Authenticity: We speak honestly, share openly, and keep things real. No corporate language, no pretense, just genuine people sharing real life.

● Empathy: We don’t just understand your situation; we understand how it feels. We recognise the emotions beneath the challenge and meet you exactly where you are.

● Insight: We turn personal stories into practical wisdom. We take what we’ve learned the hard way and transform it into tools, tips, and guidance to make your journey easier.

● Connection: We build bridges. We connect people to support, and we connect people to each other — creating a community where shared experience becomes shared strength.

● Respect: We honour that every journey is unique. What worked for us may not work for you, and we respect that. We never speak for everyone, only from our own truth, while holding space for yours.

Why We Are Different

Many places offer advice. Many offer support. But very few can say: "I know exactly how you feel, because I’ve been there too."

That is our difference. That is our promise.

When you read our stories or speak with our team, you are connecting with people who have faced similar mountains, crossed similar bridges, and come out the other side. We don’t just want to help you solve a problem; we want you to feel understood, valued, and confident that you are not walking this road alone.

Our Promise To You

We will always be honest and open.

We will always respect your story and your choices.

We will continue sharing our own experiences because we believe vulnerability fosters trust.

We will keep transforming what we learn into better support for you.

Welcome to a place where real life meets real help.

Redundancy? How did it make you feel?

Two years ago, I walked out of the office for the last time after 12 years in my role. I felt lost, embarrassed, and unsure what my future held. Redundancy wasn’t just losing a job; it felt like losing my identity. Today, I see it as the turning point that led me to my current position.

The Experience
At first, I spent weeks worrying and constantly checking job boards. Every rejection stung. I thought my skills were only good for that one type of work. Slowly, I started talking to people, taking small courses, and realising that the skills I’d built, resilience, planning, and working with people, were useful anywhere. There were hard days when I felt like giving up, but there were also moments when I realised I was free to choose something different.

What did I learn from this experience?

A job title does not define who you are.
1. Transferable skills are more valuable than you realise.
2. It’s okay to take time to figure out what you want.
3. Setbacks can open doors you never even noticed before.

How will this experience shape how I help you?

Because I have lived through the fear and uncertainty of losing work, I offer understanding, not just advice. I know what it feels like to doubt yourself, and I know exactly what steps help build confidence again. I help people look at their strengths in a new way and find opportunities they didn’t think were possible. Redundancy wasn’t the end of my story. It was the beginning of a better chapter. If you are facing this right now, you are not alone, and there is a way forward.

Have you been redundant? Share your story.
